It's recommended to provide a variety of shell sizes within your hermit crab's size range to choose from, so consider ordering multiple size ranges.
- This set is perfect for very medium to large Hermit Crabs. Tan Striped Tonna Shell (Opening Size: 2-2.5 Inch), Muffin Land Snail Shells (Opening Size: 1.5-2 Inch), Purpura luteostoma (Opening Size: 1.5-2 Inch), Tapestry Turban (Opening Size: 1-1.5 Inch) all sizes are approximate.
- Each shell is hand selected and quality inspected to ensure shell integrity. Shells with holes are not suitable. Hermit crabs need intact shells that can hold some water to keep the crabs' gills moist. We inspect every shell in your order so you can be sure you are getting "quality hermit crab house" and not wasting your time and money.
- Don't forget to sterilize the shells. After receiving your hermit crab shells, we recommend boiling them for 10 minutes in primed (de-chlorinated) water with aquarium salt (optional). NEVER use bleach as it is toxic to hermit crabs. After boiling the hermit crab shells, allow them to cool before offering them to your hermit crabs. It's a good idea to sterilize empty shells in your tank every few months.
